I guess I would be remiss if I forgot to mention another indoor football team that plays in and around Chicago.  I had, again, forgotten that this team started their first season last year.  This team is the Chicago Slaughter and they are part of the Continental Indoor Football League.  They play at the brand-spanking-new Sears Centre arena out in Hoffman Estates.

To those of you who are Bears fans, it is worth noting that the head coach is ‘85 Bears great Steve “Mongo” McMichael.  Those of you who have been in Chicago probably remember Mongo.  Is is the crazy guy who used to appear on NBC 5 sports reports with their sports reporter, with his pet chihuahua in one hand and usually some kind of weapon in the other.

The team finished 9 - 3 in their debut season.  They are now putting tickets for the 2008 season on sale now and have started a relationship with the Kane County Eagles.  They actually do play starting in March through July.

Coach McMichael to attend Kane County Eagles game on August 4th

Slaughter Head Coach Steve McMichael will be attending the August 4th game of our outdoor affiliate, the Kane County Eagles.

The Eagles are owned and operated by Arney Silvestri, Alan Perkins is the General Manager and Keith Hac is the Head Coach.

Many of the Slaughter players are also on the Eagles’ roster, so come out and cheer on your favorites as the Eagles drive for their 5th National Championship!

The Eagles are currently 3-0 and in first place in the NAFL’s Great Lakes Division.

Home games for the Eagles are played at Illinois Memorial Stadium at Mooseheart (near Batavia).

Chicago Slaughter and Kane County Eagles to Participate in National Night Out

On Tuesday, August 7th, the Chicago Slaughter and the Kane County Eagles will join the community for the National Night Out - 2007.

The event runs from 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM and will be at Barrington Square in Hoffman Estates. If you are coming from the Sears Centre take Higgins past Barrington Road, 1st. Stop light (McDonalds on left) Governors lane Left at light 1st. street on right Williamsburg - Just follow til you see the clubhouse. We will have signs out in Front for the NNO. 1800 Williamsburg Drive

National Night Out is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
