I know, I know, I keep promising feature articles and then I never deliver. Sorry, but I have a book coming out later this month and it is taking up a lot of time. So, at the very least, I want to provide you with the most-comprehensive list of games and scores from the night before.
THE NORTHERN LEAGUE
The Gary SouthShore Railcats
Gary was at Kansas City last night. For a baseball game, it was pretty high scoring. The Railcats managed to bring 9 of their runners home while the T-Bones brought home 7.
FINAL SCORE: Railcats 9 T-Bones 7
The Schaumburg Flyers
Schaumburg had a rough night as the Calgary Vipers came to town for the start of a series. The Flyers were held to only three runs. The Vipers were able to mount a decent offensive onslaught and brought 7 runners home.
FINAL SCORE: Flyers 3 Vipers 7
The Joliet Jackhammers
Joliet was in Fargo-Moorehead last night to start a series against the RedHawks. The first game did not go well for the Jackhammers, however. They were held to only two runs.
FINAL SCORE: Jackhammers 2 RedHawks 5
THE FRONTIER LEAGUE
The Windy City Thunderbolts
The Thunderbolts were not able to mount a decent offensive effort in their first game against the Southern Illinois Miners. The Miners were able to score ten times against the Thunderbolts, which has been a rare thing so far this season. The Thunderbolts were only able to bring home 5 compared to the 10 by the Miners
FINAL SCORE: Thunderbolts 5 Miners 10
The Rockford Riverhawks
Rockford went up against the Evansville Otters last night. It was a good night for the Riverhawks. The game was low-scoring, relying on great pitching and defense.
FINAL SCORE: Riverhawks 3 Otters 1
THE MIDWEST LEAGUE (AFFILIATED TEAM)
The Kane County Cougars
The Cougars looked like they were going to have a repeat of the night before by getting a first-inning home run. However, the Chiefs came right back and it was a Chiefs’ game from then on. With this loss the Cougas are now 3.5 games behind Peoria for the lead in the division.
FINAL SCORE: Cougars 1 Chiefs 5
