It was hot and sticky around here in Chicago.  To many, this is perfect baseball weather.  To me, it’s time to stay inside and listen to broadcasts of games online, but that’s me.

If you are headed to Chicago to check out the Lollapalooza concert, you may want to check out a local baseball game too.

THE NORTHERN LEAGUE

The Gary SouthShore Railcats

The Railcats continued to struggle against the Goldeyes of Winnipeg during last night’s game.  Gary was only able to put three runners across the plate.  Winnipeg managed to cross six of their players to take the win away from Gary

FINAL SCORE:   Railcats  3           Goldeyes  6

The Schaumburg Flyers

It was another close game between the Flyers and the Fargo-Moorehead RedHawks.  This time the Flyers were able to pull out the win by one run.

FINAL SCORE:  Flyers   5      RedHawks  4

The Joliet Jackhammers

Kansas City exploded for nine runs in last night’s match up against the Jackhammers.  The Joliet team plated five, but it wasn’t enough to come back and bring down the T-Bones again.

FINAL SCORE:  Jackhammers  5     T-Bones  9

THE FRONTIER LEAGUE

The Windy City Thunderbolts

Windy City probably wishes that they could keep playing the Slippery Rock Sliders.  Instead, they had to face off against the Washington Wild Things.  It was a close game, but it came up short for the Thunderbolts

FINAL SCORE:   Thunderbolts  4       Wild Things  5

The Rockford Riverhawks

Slippery Rock went to Rockford and found the struggling Riverhawks a good way to take out their frustrations.  The Sliders exploded a positively devastating offense for a team lounging at the bottom of the entire league.  They managed score 8 runs, more than double what the Rivehawks were able to muster.

FINAL SCORE:   Riverhawks  4      Sliders   8

THE MIDWEST LEAGUE (AFFILIATED TEAM)

The Kane County Cougars

Kane County had an offensive night last night.  Alex Valdez went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and Todd Johnson had a two-run homer himself.

FINAL SCORE:  Cougars  9        Bees   5
