Well, Chicago got hit with some of the worst storms many in this area have seen in a long time.  Intense lightning was accompanied by strong winds, driving rain and lots of other fun stuff.  It was a nightmare that brought flooding and downed tree limbs everywhere.  The O’Hare control tower was evacuated due to hight winds at one point.

Needless to say, I doubt much baseball was played anywhere.

THE NORTHERN LEAGUE

The Gary Southshore Railcats and Joliet Jackhammers

This was the only local Northern League game schedule for last night, evidently.  It was utterly rained out.

THE FRONTIER LEAGUE

The Windy City Thunderbolts

The ‘Bolts were at home and welcoming the Evansville Otters.  Those needed to be real otters that came to town to enjoy the amount of water that fell on Hawk-Ford field.  As such, the game was post-poned.  Look for a double-header today.

The Rockford Riverhawks

The Riverhawks had a double-header yesterday against the Southern Illinois Miners.  It was a good thing for the Riverhawks as they won both games.  The first game was, at least, close.  The second game, well, it was a high-scoring affair on both sides.

FINAL SCORE (GAME 1):  Riverhawks   3       Miners   1

FINAL SCORE (GAME 2):  Riverhawks  11      Miners  7

THE MIDWEST LEAGUE (AFFILIATED TEAM)

The Kane County Cougars

I have no idea how the Cougars managed to get a game in yesterday.  They must have erected an emergency dome over the stadium or something.  Anyway, they beat the Beloit Snappers yesterday.  In fact, the teams played a double-header and the Cougars won both games.

FINAL SCORE (GAME 1):   Cougars  2     Snappers  0

FINAL SCORE (GAME 2):   Cougars  6    Snappers   2
