OK, more scores and games.  We still have some cross-town action going on in the Northern League.  That seems to happen a lot.  The Joliet and Gary matchup finally ended.  Now the Flyers and Joliet are facing off and last night’s game seems like it was an interesting one.

THE NORTHERN LEAGUE

The Gary SouthShore Railcats

The Railcats finished their series against their cross-town rivals the Jackhammers after the ‘Hammers were able to finally beat the Railcats in the last game.  They welcomed the division leaders the Kansas City T-Bones.  They managed to shut out the T-Bones to continue their recent winning ways.

FINAL SCORE:   Railcats   3         T-Bones  0

The Schaumburg Flyers and Joliet Jackhammers

The two teams were tied at 4 into the tenth inning.  The Jackhammers were just off of their win the night before against the Railcats.  They carried that momentum into this game and managed to edge out the Flyers.

FINAL SCORE:   Flyers   4       Jackhammers  5

THE FRONTIER LEAGUE

The Windy City Thunderbolts

The Thunderbolts seem to be on a bit of a winning streak and they seem to be fond of beating up on the Kalamazoo Kings at the moment.  The Kings have been trouble for them during the season, but not during this match up.  The Thunderbolts offense exploded for 8 runs and their defense and pitching held the Kings to only one run.

FINAL SCORE:    Thunderbolts   8        Kings   1

The Rockford Riverhawks

On the other end of the spectrum there is the match up between the Riverhawks and the Traverse City Beach Bums.  Every season it seems like certain teams just have the number of certain other teams.  This time around it seems that the Beach Bums just have ways to beat the Riverhawks no matter what the Riverhawks do.  This time the Bums were able to edge out the Riverhawks by one run despite the sheer number of runs scored by both teams.

FINAL SCORE:  Riverhawks  7        Beach Bums   8

THE MIDWEST LEAGUE (AFFILIATED TEAMS)

The Kane County Cougars

One thing is certain for the Cougars this season is that they have been good at shutting out their opponents.  Last night, against the Chiefs, it was the Cougars’ turn to get blanked.  The Cougars only managed to get five hits throughout the entire game and could not bring a runner home.

FINAL SCORE:    Cougars   0       Chiefs   5
