Another hot and steamy night here in the Chicago are. I was out and about last night and I had to admit, I was glad I was not in a polyester baseball uniform trying to play in the heat and humidity. Then there were more storms last night to boot. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem as though any games were canceled or post-poned.
THE NORTHERN LEAGUE
The Gary SouthShort Railcats
The struggles continue for the Gary team. They welcomed the Kansas City T-Bones to the US Steelyard last night and they struggled once again. The scores were not high, but four runs was all the T-Bones would need to defeat the Gary team on their own turf.
FINAL SCORE: Railcats 2 T-Bones 4
The Schaumburg Flyers
The Flyers traveled north into Canada to face off against the Calgary Vipers. However, the Flyers were not able to shut down an offensive outburst from the Vipers. Calgary was able to bring 13 runners across the plate.
FINAL SCORE: Flyers 7 Vipers 13
The Joliet Jackhammers
The Edmonton Cracker-Cats came to Joliet looking to continue their winning ways. They had split a double-header with the Flyers the day before. They brought 7 runners home and then kept the Jackhammers to just three runs and that was enough.
FINAL SCORE: Jackhammers 3 Cracker-Cats 7
THE FRONTIER LEAGUE
The Windy City Thunderbolts
The ‘Bolts had a double-header with the Traverse City Beach Bums last night to make up for the post-poned game from the night before. It turned out to be a rough night for the ‘Bolts as they lost both games, despite keeping their defense strong and keeping the games close.
Game 1
FINAL SCORE: Thunderbolts 0 Beach Bums 2
Game 2
FINAL SCORE: Thunderbolts 1 Beach Bums 5
The Rockford Riverhawks
Another post-poned game for the Kalamzoo Kings and the Rockford Riverhawks was the result last night due to the foul weather in this area. Considering there are tornado warnings going on around here as I write, this, I am not hopeful for make up games tonight either.
THE MIDWEST LEAGUE (AFFILIATED TEAMS)
The Kane County Cougars
The Cougars started off a four-game series against the Lansing Lugnuts with a victory last night. The Cougars have won 7 of their last 8 games and 12 of their last 15. So, the Cougars are doing quite well after a short losing streak.
FINAL SCORE: Cougars 9 Lugnuts 1
