It was another hot and stormy night around the Chicago area last night. All of the games appear to have gotten in last night, though. This despite tornado warnings earlier in the day. Heck, there was even a tornado in Brooklyn last night.
THE NORTHERN LEAGUE
The Gary SouthShore Railcats
Gary finally snapped out of a frustrating losing period and managed to clamp down on the Kansas City T-Bones. They held the T-Bones to 1 run. At the same time, the offense for the Railcats finally found a groove and they were able to bring home 7 runners
FINAL SCORE: Railcats 7 T-Bones 1
The Schaumburg Flyers
The Flyers scored often against the Calgary Vipers last night. At the same time, the Vipers must have been hugely frustrated. They managed to score 9 times, and it still wasn’t enough to defeat the Flyers. The Flyers managed to outdo the Vipers by scoring 14.
FINAL SCORE: Flyers 14 Vipers 9
The Joliet Jackhammers
Even Joliet had a winning night last night. After all of the area Northern League teams had a losing night the night before, they all managed to win last night. The Joliet Jackhammers managed to defeat the Edmonton Cracker-Cats last night, but the game was a close one.
FINAL SCORE: Jackhammers 6 Cracker-Cats 5
THE FRONTIER LEAGUE
The Windy City Thunderbolts
The Thunderbolts faced off against the Traverse City Beach Bums again last night. They managed to double up the Beach Bums and plate 6 runners versus the 3 runners the Beach Bums were able to bring home.
FINAL SCORE: Thunderbolts 6 Beach Bums 3
The Rockford Riverhawks
OK, well, there was one game that didn’t get played yesterday. It was this one. The Rockford Riverhawks and Kalamazoo Kings just have not had any luck trying to play. The rain post-poned the game yet again. These two teams will have to make up a lot of ground and soon.
THE MIDWEST LEAGUE (AFFILIATED TEAMS)
The Kane County Cougars
There suddenly seems to be no stopping the Kane County Cougars since the month of August started. They are 7 - 1 so far this month. Last night their pitching staff and bullpen completely shut down the offense of the Lansing Lug Nuts. Their offense was able to score three runs and that proved to me more than enough to bring about a solid win.
FINAL SCORE: Cougars 3 Lug Nuts 0
