Sorry everyone, not much time today to write too much except for the games and scores from last night.  Turns out to be a busy weekend for me.  Also, I saw the “Simpsons” movie last night and it was fantastic, so if you want to take a break from the baseball games, check it out.

On with the scores….

THE NORTHERN LEAGUE

Gary SouthShore Railcats

Gary faced off against the Fargo-Moorehead RedHawks last night.  It was a very close game, probably due to the oustanding pitching efforts on both sides.  Unfortunately for the Railcats, they came out on the losing end of this match up

FINAL SCORE:   Railcats  2         RedHawks   3

Schaumburg Flyers and Joliet Jackhammers

The two teams from across town from one another faced off for the first game in this series last night.  It turned out to be a high scoring affair with both teams getting over five runs.  The Jackhammers, however, had an offensive explosion and plated 10.

FINAL SCORE:   Flyers  6      Jackhammers  10

THE FRONTIER LEAGUE

The Windy City Thunderbolts

The game between the Thunderbolts and Washington Wild Things was a defensive and pitching gem.  The game was very low-scoring, which is the way, personally, I prefer a baseball game.  The Thunderbolts pitching and defense proved to be slightly better, however.

FINAL SCORE:  Thunderbolts  2    Wild Things   1

The Rockford Riverhawks

The Riverhawks must have been sharpening their claws to face off against the league-worst Slippery Rock Sliders.  The Riverhawks were up 1 - 0 when the game was suspended due to wet conditions on the field.

FINAL SCORE:    None

THE MIDWEST LEAGUE (AFFILIATED TEAM)

The Kane County Cougars

The Cougars have managed to halt their skid, turn the vehicle around, and now mount a 4-game winning streak.  They faced off against the Fort Wayne Wizards again in front of 9,000 fans at Elfstrom Stadium last night.  Mike Massaro got three hits to help the Cougars notch up that fourth win.

FINAL SCORE:   Cougars   7       Wizards  4
