The Kane County Eagles kicked off their season on July 14 at their home stadium, Mooseheart Stadium. They faced off against the Leyden Lions. Playing like the champions they are, they opened the season with a resounding win.
The Eagles shut-out the Lions and came away with a 26 - 0 win.
They opened their scoring in the first quarter when their quarterback Marrial Shields scored from six yards out. The Eagles would then score in the second quarter as well. Finally, the scored again in the third quarter when Shields hit Curtis “Flash” Gordon for a 65-yard touchdown.
Shields connected one more time with Gordon in the fourth quarter for a 12-yard touchdown reception. The Lions only threatened once, when they fumbled the ball on first and goal from the Eagles’ 1-yard line.
The Eagles’ next game is July 21. They play in Milwaukee against the Milwaukee Marauders. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
