Play continued after the holiday and despite the heat. It’s an exciting time for the minor league baseball teams here. The Windy City Thunderbolts are solidly in first place in their division and have been on huge winning streaks this season. It’s very exciting.

The Flyers are also in second place and the Gary Southshore Railcats are continuing their domination of their division in the Northern League. If any of the former winning teams seem to be struggling it would be the Riverhawks.

So, if you really want to see winning baseball, you may want to check out a minor league baseball game. Also, the Rock River Raptors indoor football team in Rockford is in first place, so there is some first-place winning football being played too.


Northern League

Schaumburg Flyers

The Flyers reversed the score and side they ended up on at the end of the game from their resounding victory on the fourth. They faced off in the second of five against the Calgary Vipers, but lost this time.

Joliet Jackhammers

The Jackhammers’ bats came to life during yesterday’s game. They faced off again against the Edmonton Cracker-Cats again and pounded them quite nicely.

Gary Southshore Railcats

The Railcats lost their second in a row to the Fargo-Moorehead RedHawks in play yesterday. The game did to into extra innings however.

Frontier League

Windy City Thunderbolts

In a game that lasted nearly four hours, the Thunderbolts lost a heartbreaker to the River City Rascals last night. The Thunderbolts came back several times, but it was still a losing effort.

Rockford Riverhawks

The Riverhawk’s woes continued in Sauget Illinois last night. The Gateway Grizzlies handed the ‘Hawks another defeat in ll innings.

Kane County Cougars

The Peoria Chiefs shook off their defeat at the hands of the Cougars on the fourth and handed them a loss. It was the third of a four game series against the Chiefs.
