August has come in with blazing heat and uncomfortable humidity around here.  I am not a big fan.

As you can tell, the very least this weblog wants to do is provide you with the latest games and scores for all of the various minor league teams in the area in one place.  I just have not had the time this week to write another article, but I hope to get to one tomorrow….maybe an opinion piece.

If any of you readers would like to see an article or, perhaps, even write an article about one of the teams around here, let me know!

THE NORTHERN LEAGUE

The Gary SouthShore Railcats

The Winnipeg Goldeyes had the Railcats’ number last night.  Gary was only able to muster enough offense for two runs, while the Goldeyes teed off 5 runs against the division-leading Railcats.

FINAL SCORE:    Railcats  2      Goldeyes  5

The Schaumburg Flyers

It was a long game for the Flyers and the Redhawks.  The game went 10 innings and, ultimately, it was the Flyers who were able to break the stalemate and come away with the win.

FINAL SCORE:    Flyers  9        RedHawks  5

The Joliet Jackhammers

Joliet was able to open the offensive flood-gates while visiting the Kansas City T-Bones.  They scored 14 runs while holing the T-Bones to only three.

FINAL SCORE:   Jackhammers  14        T-Bones    3

THE FRONTIER LEAGUE

The Windy City Thunderbolts

Once more the Thunderbolts were able to pound the snot out of the hapless and pathetic Slippery Rock Sliders.  While a team in last place can suddenly turn and bite like a wounded animal, this does not seem to be possible for the Sliders.  The Thunderbolts racked up 14 runs.

FINAL SCORE:  Thunderbolts   14      Sliders   3

The Rockford Riverhawks

The Riverhawks had another decent outing against the Washington Wild Things last night.  Rockford was able to bring 8 runners home last night and keep the Wild Things to only 3 runs.

FINAL SCORE:   Riverhawks  8     Wild Things   3

THE MIDWEST LEAGUE (AFFILIATED TEAMS)

The Kane County Cougars

A very controversial home run by Greg Dowling that ultimately led to the ejection of the Burlington manager proved to be the key to the Cougars bringing down the Burlington Bees last night.  The controversial call came in the eighth when Dowling hit a ball down the line.

FINAL SCORE:  Cougars  4       Bees   3
