Well, nothing like a sudden bout of stomach flu to take me out of the sports blogging world for a day. The weather here in Chicago has been, interesting, to say the least. Storms have been coming through on a daily basis, which makes playing baseball a bit of a trick.

THE NORTHERN LEAGUE

Gary Southshore Railcats and Schaumburg Flyers

This crosstown rivalry continued this week as the Railcats continue to try to start up their winning ways again.  The Monday night game, however, was postponed due to weather.  This lead to a double-header on Tuesday.  Gary won both of those and then beat the Flyers in a close one last night.

The Joliet Jackhammers

The Joliet Jackhammers did not play on Monday.  They then faced off against the Kansas City T-Bones.  The Tuesday game went well for the Jackhammers who plated six runners while holding the T-Bones to one run.  On the Wednesday night game the game ended after 7 innings and the T-Bones pounded the Jackhammers

THE FRONTIER LEAGUE

The Windy City Thunderbolts

Southern Illinois faced off against Windy City this week.  The Monday night game was postponed due to rain.  This lead to the double-header the next night. It was a split affair between the two during the double-header as the Miners won the first one and then the ‘Bolts second one.  Last night the ‘Bolts took batting practice against the Miners with 12 runs scored.

The Rockford Riverhawks

The Riverhawks have been able to avoid the weather near Chicago by being in Evansville Indiana to face off against the Otters.  It was a back and forth affair as the Riverhawks won the first game, lost the second and then won the third.

THE MIDWEST LEAGUE  (AFFILIATED TEAM)

The Kane County Cougars

The Cougars faced off this week against the Beloit Snappers.  This is a relatively short road trip for the Cougars.  The first game was a shut out by the Cougars.  The second game was close, but ultimately, the Snappers edged the Cougars.  It seems that mother nature has stepped in for the next game and it was postponed due to rain.
