What a truly gorgeous weekend it was here in Chicago over the Labor Day Weekend.  Not only was it nearly cloudless, but the temperature was entirely bearable and the humidity was low.  Plus, the Chicago Jazz Festival was this weekend, so there was plenty to do.

However, what we are here for is the scores and games that affected the baseball teams in the Chicago area.  So, here they come.

THE NORTHERN LEAGUE

There are not games scheduled throughout the Northern League fo Monday night.

The Gary Southshore Railcats

Gary had a nice long 16-inning game on Friday against the Kansas City T-Bones.  Thankfully for the Railcats, they managed to come out with the lead and the win in the end there.  They racked up some nice runs on Saturday, scoring 12 times in the standard 9 innings.  Sunday, the Railcats were shut out and the T-Bones only needed to score three times for the victory.

The Schaumburg Flyers and Joliet Jackhammers

On Friday the game went into extra innings again, to only end with the exact same score from earlier in the week and with the Flyers on the short end again.  The Saturday game was also  close one, but the Flyers lost again and then lost again on Sunday.  In short, the Flyers will be glad when the Jackhammers head back to their stadium across town.

The Frontier League also had no games scheduled for Monday, September 3, 2007.

The Windy City Thunderbolts

The ‘Bolts continued their series against the Traverse City Beach Bums.  It was a close game on Friday and Saturday, with the ‘Bolts coming out as the victors.  In fact, the Saturday night game went into 11 innings.  The Sunday game ended with the ‘Bolts on the losing end, however.

The Rockford Riverhawks

Rockford and Kalamazoo continued their battle, finishing the series in Kalamazoo on Friday and then moving back home for Saturday and Sunday.  The two teams played a double-header on Saturday which Rockford swept.  They played another double-header on Sunday and the teams split that one.

The Kane County Cougars

The Cougars had a very busy weekend schedule.  They finished their series on Friday against one Wisconsin team, the Beloit Snappers, only to start a series against the Wisconsin Timberrattlers.  This featured a double-header on September 2 that the two teams split.
