There were a lot of afternoon games yesterday in the various minor leagues. Also, I am glad to report that the Thunderbolts managed to snap their short skid. I am relieved. I would have to be the blame for a team to have a sudden turnaround for the worst. Also, I will be making some appearances to promote this site, but more on that later.
THE NORTHERN LEAGUE
The Schaumburg Flyers and Gary SouthShore Railcats
Well, this must have been a very frustrating series for the Railcats. The Flyers have managed to play very well to start off the second half of the season and they seem to have taken it out on their cross-town rivals.
FINAL SCORE: Flyers 8 Railcats 5
The Joliet Jackhammers
The Jackhammers, meanwhile, have had a generally good series against the Kansas City T-Bones. That is, until last night,w hen their fortunes changed a bit. The Jackhammers still continue to struggle with their consistency as a team.
FINAL SCORE: Jackhammers 6 T-bones 11
THE FRONTIER LEAGUE
The Windy City Thunderbolts
I am very proud to report that the ‘Bolts turned things around. They have suddenly been struggling with one of those teams that, as a fan, makes you want to pound your head against the wall. Well, they finally beat the River City Rascals last night and they will becoming home this weekend. I hope to be at the game Friday night. They have a hat giveaway. I am telling you, you need to go for that alone.
FINAL SCORE: Thunderbolts 6 Rascals 5
The Rockford Riverhawks
Well, we had some very intense storms here in Northwest and Northeast Illinois. Some of the most-intense rain and lightning you would ever want to see. As such, the game between the Riverhawks and the Grizzlies was postponed due to rain. This will mean a double-header sometime in the near future.
THE MIDWEST LEAGUE (AFFILIATED TEAMS)
The Kane County Cougars
The Cougars managed to turn things around in their series against the West Michigan Whitecaps. The did this thanks to a dazzling pitching performance by Trevor Cahill who gave up just one run in seven innings.
FINAL SCORE: Cougars 8 Whitecaps 2
