The action continues in the post-season for some of our favorite minor league baseball teams.
THE NORTHERN LEAGUE
The Gary SouthShore Railcats vs. the Winnipeg Goldeyes
The Railcats manages to hold off the Goldeyes in game one and squeak by with a win. During game two on Wednesday night the Goldeyes came back to play and they were serious about it. They shut down the Railcats’ offense entirely. They also scored two runs in the first and then came back in the second to score four more. They managed to score one more run in the fourth and that was enough with their pitching and defense giving the Railcats’ fits. The teams are now tied at a game apiece.
FINAL SCORE: Railcats 0 Goldeyes 7
THE FRONTIER LEAGUE
The Windy City Thunderbolts vs. the Rockford Riverhawks
The Thunderbolts starter Shawn Phillips came in and shut down the Riverhawks offense entirely during Wednesday night’s game. The ‘Bolts had been lucky the night before, sending the game into extra innings and squeaking by. This was not the case during the second game. The ‘Bolts offense was also on fire, scoring five runs. The game was a pitcher’s duel until the 7th when the ‘Bolts started to hit and just kept hitting. The Riverhawks are now in the hole by two games.
FINAL SCORE: Thunderbolts 5 Riverhawks 0
